Activity

The Heartfelt Community Project, promoted by Wendy Bailey at Convergence, will be our meeting activity on Saturday starting at 10.30am.

Feltmakers unite worldwide to bring comfort to those in hospice and palliative care or to anyone else in need of comfort. Refer to The Heartfelt Community Project on Facebook

Comfort hearts are to be made simply using only wool fibre and silk fibre. The filling must be wool stuffing, not fibre fill or polyester. (Filling will be available at the meeting) The purity if the materials is important. Soft, smooth, warm and cuddly brings the most comfort.  Wendy says that she does not add stitching or textures as she thinks it is best to keep them simply beautiful.  The design can be all your own but recommended finished size is 15 to 20 cms.

If you can’t be with us on Saturday, Wendy has made a ‘how to’ video to make the heart using wet-felting techniques. You can find it on YouTube. 

What to bring to the meeting to make a comfort heart:

• 18-21 micron wool tops in your choice of colour
  
• Silk or viscose fibre
  
• Template/resist pattern material - either 2-3mm soft foam or bubble wrap. Foam works better.
  
• Felting kit
  
• Scissors

There is no additional charge for skillshare activities at general meetings. Just pay your usual $5 for attending the General Meeting. It would help if you can register for the meeting+skillshare so that we get an idea of how many people will be participating.

Cost is $5 which includes the lucky door prize (remember to get a ticket when you sign the attendance book). The fee is to help cover the room hire costs.

Registration is optional but makes it easy to pay. Payment can be done online when you register or by paying the invoice online or by direct deposit. You can also register and pay using the Wild Apricot Members app.

Another option is to just turn up and pay on the day.
