Activity: Hemming silk scarves

Learn to be comfortable hemming silk edges, either by machine or by hand. This gives a very neat finish for sheer and silk fabrics.

We will do a “hands on” activity using various fabrics.  Techniques covered will be 2 step narrow machine hem, machine rolled hemming foot and hand rolled hem. Annette will also demonstrate an overlocked rolled hem.

What to bring

Sewing machine, foot control, power cord and accessories (including rolled hem foot if you have one). Machine needles size 70 (SHARPS needles are very good for silk).

Machine thread white and mid blue or pink. And one bobbin pre wound with white thread, also one with mid blue or pink. Thread recommended is Gutermann or Metrosene.
