You will be led through the process of making a suitable design for your zipper brooch and shown how to deal with preparing and stitching the zipper to your backing cloth.

Methods of colour mixing the fleece will be explored and then how to control the fleece while needle felting it into the spaces of the design.

Finishing of the brooch with a suitable backing cloth and attachment of the clasp, completes the process.

Workshop fee: $75
A $40 deposit is payable at time of booking. This can be paid when you book or later by direct deposit to the CRF bank account (details are on the invoice). You will receive an invoice for the balance approximately 4 weeks before the workshop.

About OUR tutor

Alyson Robinson

After training in Melbourne as an art and textiles teacher in secondary schools, Alyson taught mostly art as she followed her military husband around eastern Australia and to Malaysia. On the way she was able to expand her knowledge and experience in all things textile, through various groups like the Creative Group of the Embroiderer’s Guild in Adelaide, Fibres and Fabrics in Townsville and the ACT Textile Art Association. Designing, knitting and sewing garments is a passion, but there has also been dyeing, printing, needle-felting, fabric manipulation and embroidery used in images and sculpture. 

Jewellery making has complimented a special outfit, whether Alyson has been using ceramics, enameling, beads, silver or textiles. Needle-felting is a relatively new strand to her jewellery making after discovering zipper brooches on Pinterest.
